Etxetar is an engineering company based in Elgoibar, a town in the Basque Country, which is a world leader in the sale of advanced manufacturing solutions for combustion engines and electric vehicle parts. It designs and manufactures industrial solutions of high technological value (it produces 100 machines a year). They have devised a high-production cladding solution (EHLA) that protects the brake disc and limits the emission of polluting particles.

Since its foundation in 1957, Etxetar has evolved to lead key sectors in the automotive industry. In 1981, it began its international expansion, consolidating its position in the manufacture of power train systems. In 1999, it sold its first project in the USA to Ford, and in 2000, it positioned itself as a leader in the sale of crankshaft machining machines. In 2012, it founded Ikergune, its R&D unit, and expanded its operations with subsidiaries in Mexico and China.

Innovation in additive manufacturing and emission reduction

One of its most recent advances is developing a high-production cladding solution (EHLA) for brake discs, which reduces the emission of polluting particles in compliance with the European Euro 7 regulation. This development has required five patents and reinforces Etxetar’s commitment to sustainability.

The company specializes in machining and laser technologies for heat treatment, cutting, and additive manufacturing, offering advanced solutions for producing key components such as battery cases, crankshafts, connecting rods, and engine blocks.

Leadership in digitization and cybersecurity

With a focus on Industry 4.0, Etxetar has developed Edge Computing systems applied to industrial data processing, achieving the first patent in this field. In addition, its R&D unit Ikergune has driven a disruptive change in the sector by developing an alternative technology to induction heat treatment, implemented by automotive manufacturers in the US.

The company has also reinforced its cybersecurity strategy, ensuring full control over sensitive data through an advanced digital protection system.

A future of innovation and excellence

Etxetar continues to be at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing, digitalization, and production efficiency, consolidating its position as a leader in the global automotive industry. Its focus on turnkey solutions and high technological value allows it to continue exploring new market niches and remain at the forefront of industrial engineering.
