El Banco Mundial en tanto que institución referente dentro de la lucha contra la pobreza, la desigualdad y la justicia climática entre otros fines, ha elegido a la provincia de Bizkaia para la celebración de su próximo congreso para la cuestión del clima.
El congreso internacional celebrado por el Banco Mundial (en inglés: World Bank Group’s) dedicada a la Acción por el Clima presentará su 7º edición en el Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) del 23 al 25 de mayo en formato presencial, tras dos años de reuniones por vía telemática. En el evento se contará con la presencia de empresas de los sectores principales (política, tecnología, mercado, financiación pública y privada, etc) tanto públicos como privados con el fin principal de ponerse de acuerdo en soluciones plausibles de cara a la emergencia climática.
Por otro lado, se trata de una cita referente dentro de las negociaciones sobre el clima que se celebran a nivel internacional, con gran repercusión como pudo verse en el último Congreso celebrado en Singapur con un número considerablemente elevado de participantes. Para la celebración se han creado una serie de espacios dependiendo del ámbito concreto del que se trate, aunque siempre teniendo el clima y la sostenibilidad como pilar fundamental de la conferencia internacional. Por ejemplo, el “Workshop” brindará la oportunidad de expandir el conocimiento a todos los niveles a grupos de interés claves comprometidos con las cuestiones de sostenibilidad climática (entre ellos, autoridades del gobierno, bancos de desarrollo e instituciones internacionales clave).
En conclusión, la celebración de este evento de tal calibre a nivel global representa una gran oportunidad para aumentar el desarrollo sostenible en las empresas participantes así como ampliar las posibilidades de negocio para muchas empresas. Ello se realizará en el espacio al que se ha denominado “Marketplace” que se ha decidido centrar en la inversión y financiación, los mercados de carbono y modelos de negocio en relación a productos y tecnologías emergentes. Además, se dará una oportunidad a los participantes más jóvenes en el “Young Climate Innovators” a través de una jornada de día completo especialmente dirigida para más de 100 jóvenes líderes climáticos de todo el mundo comprometidos con sus carreras en la acción climática.

The World Bank as an international institution dedicated fundamentally to the fight against poverty, inequality and climate justice, among other objectives, has chosen the capital of Biscay, Bilbao as the place to celebrate its next international conference regarding climate issues.
This conference celebrated by the World Bank will be dedicated to the “Action for Climate” in its 7th edition from the 23 to the 25 of mai in a face-to-face meeting, after two years of being celebrated online. What is more, the event will count with the participation of a wide range of enterprises of the principle sectors (being politics, technology, market, private and public funding) with the main aim of achieving plausible solutions regarding the climate emergency.
On the other hand, it is known that it is an important international annual meeting regarding negotiations about climate that certainly has great repercussions at a global scale, like the last one celebrated in a face-to-face way in Singapore, that counted with a great number of enterprises and different countries involved. The organization of the event has decided to create some different spaces that will be used depending on the concrete subject, even if climate and sustainability are at the core of every event taking place. For instance, the Workshop will provide the opportunity to expand knowledge at every level to the groups of agents participating that are currently devoted to climate issues (among many others, authorities of the government, development banks and other international institutions).
To sum up, the celebration of this event of certainly huge importance represents an interesting opportunity in order to increase the sustainable development in the participating enterprises as well as to amplify the business opportunities for most of them. This last task will be conducted in the space denominated Marketplace that is focused in the investment as well as funding, coal markets and business models regarding emerging products and technologies. Furthermore, it will provide an opportunity to the youngest participants throughout what has been called the “Young Climate Innovators”.
